The Story Behind Us
Iowa Elementary Chess was founded in 2021 by Nathan Chen and Gokul Thangavel in midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Based in Iowa City, we are an active non-profit Chess Club with tournaments and workshops taking place year-round. We like to keep up the energy and excitement, always welcoming new members to take part. Simply put, we love getting together to do what we love: chess.
